Last week I sent a copy of a memo from the Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee. It has come to light that many didn’t understand the memo or it’s implications. If you’re wondering what that was all about, let me explain since it’s not being widely covered in the news. The Liberal media doesn’t want you to know about this but if this memo had come from the Republicans, you can bet it would be front page headlines for weeks to come.

The Senate Intelligence Committee is a body of Senators who are charged with overseeing our intelligence agencies and developing reliable intelligence for the president as well as the public. It is supposed to be a non-partisan group of Senators working together to advance American intelligence. Unfortunately, that is not the case and the memo proves it. This memo (which I have attached again to this email) clearly shows the Democrats attempt to subvert and corrupt intelligence information before delivering it to the people in a blatant attempt to undermine the Presidency, the War on Terror, and the reputation of America for political gain and to try to win an election. The idea of investigating pre-war intelligence is a good one and it should be investigated considering it’s shortcomings, but the investigation has to be fair, bipartisan, and accurate. Take another look at what the memo says.

“We have carefully reviewed our options under the rules and believe we have identified the best approach. Our plan is as follows:

1) Pull the majority along as far as we can on issues that may lead to major new disclosures regarding improper or questionable conduct by administration officials.”

Meaning, this will not be a non-partisan investigation, this is the Democrats agenda we wish to pursue. We have nothing to indicate improper activity by the President or his administration but if we keep digging, maybe we can come up with something. We will cooperate with the majority (Republicans) as long as it serves our purpose.

“2) Assiduously prepare Democratic "additional views" to attach to any interim or final reports the committee may release... We will identify the most exaggerated claims and contrast them with the intelligence estimates that have since been declassified. Our additional views will also, among other things, castigate the majority for seeking to limit the scope of the inquiry.”

In other words, prepare “left view” comments to be included in the actual intelligence information. Select the most controversial claims by the administration and contrast them with more recently declassified intelligence that has been corrupted with our “additional views” before releasing it to the public.

“The Democrats will then be in a strong position to reopen the question of establishing an independent commission (i.e. the Corzine amendment).”

When we’ve gone as far as we can with the Republicans, we then will demand an independent investigation. The Democrats let the “Corzine amendment” expire in 1999 after it was used to investigate Bill Clinton with an independent counsel. Now they want it back if it will serve their purpose.

“Prepare to launch an independent investigation when it becomes clear we have exhausted the opportunity to usefully collaborate with the majority.”

In other words, when a bipartisan investigation fails to turn up anything we can use against the administration, we’ll go ahead behind the backs of the Republican members of the committee and conduct our own partisan investigation. Then we can release whatever we want without Republican members approval and represent it as real intelligence information.

We can pull the trigger on an independent investigation at any time-- but we can only do so once. The best time to do so will probably be next year either:
A) After we have already released our additional views on an interim report… or;

B) Once we identify solid leads the majority does not want to pursue. We could attract more coverage and have greater credibility in that context than one in which we simply launch an independent investigation based on principled but vague notions regarding the "use" of intelligence.”

We can sidestep the Republican members of the committee and “pull the trigger” on our own investigation. The best time for this will be next year right in the middle of election campaigning. We will have already set up the public with our “additional views” so this won’t seem out of place. We can pursue unsupported leads thought useless by the majority and get more press coverage this way rather than by using actual confirmed intelligence information.

“In the meantime, even without a specifically authorized independent investigation, we continue to act independently when we encounter foot-dragging on the part of the majority.”

If we can’t get what we want through a bipartisan investigation, we will simply ignore the Republican members of the committee and proceed without them until we do. We have already predetermined what the outcome of this investigation must be.

“Intelligence issues are clearly secondary to the public's concern regarding the insurgency in Iraq. Yet, we have an important role to play in the revealing the misleading -- if not flagrantly dishonest methods and motives -- of the senior administration officials who made the case for a unilateral, preemptive war. “

It’s more important that we show that the President misled the American people before going to war, than anything the actual intelligence confirms. Regardless of the intelligence information this investigation finds, we need to show that the president lied to give our candidate a better chance of winning the election.

After seeing this memo, can any of us really trust what we are told by the politicians who are supposed to be overseeing the intelligence community? This is nothing more than an abuse of office by Democrat Senators on the committee and shows a level corruption beyond belief. Americans need to be made aware of what the people we elected are doing to us and trying to pull over us.
